Imphal: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh on Sunday took first shot of Covid-19 vaccine as he launched 4-day vaccination programme ‘Tika Utsav’ at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences.
“Received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine as we observe the ‘Tika Utsav’ ( Mass Vaccination Drive) throughout the country today. I appeal all the eligible citizens for Covid vaccination in the state to please vaccinate at your nearest health centres,” Biren writes on his Facebook wall. He requests everyone in the state to follow Covid appropriate behaviour in public places.
Biren said following the clarion call of PM Narendra Modi, Tika Utsav was launched at JNIMS Auditorium to urge the people to get vaccinated and be safe from Covid-19. The vaccination drive will continue till April 14.
“I reiterate that there is nothing to fear about the Covid-19 vaccine, and all illegible persons should get vaccinated to become safe from the second wave,” he said. “Let us make our state and the country Covid-19 free,” he added.
Biren was tested positive for Covid-19 on November 15 last year. He was declared recovered on 30 of the same month.
