Manipur cops foil attempt to ferry drugs to Assam

Imphal: Manipur Police has foiled an attempt to ferry WY (World is Yours) tablets from Manipur to Assam by a drug racket.

Teams of Kakching Police, Manipur, under the supervision of superintendent of police Victoria Yengkhom nabbed a man who was concealing 5.481 kg of ‘suspected’ WY tablets at his residence at Kakching Lamkhai.

The man was identified as Irengbam Somorjit Singh, 34, so of late I. Basanta Singh of Kakching Irum Mapal, at present residing at Kakching Lamkhai.

He was nabbed when six police teams of Kaching Police conducted a house to house search operation at Kakching Lamkhai area at about 3 am. The cops found the drugs in a fertilizer plastic bag wrapped in five plastic packets.

The suspected WY tablets, mobile phones were seized at the spot at 4 am and Somorjit was arrested at 4:10 am.

The arrested person stated that Len, 34, of Moreh, Indo-Myanmar border town in Manipur (particulars of Len were not mentioned) transported the illegal drugs from Moreh through one carrier, Lalboi, a resident of Moreh and it has to be transferred to one Jayadul of Assam whose full particulars were not mentioned by Somorjit.
