MoU inked for dedicated senior citizens helpline

Imphal: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between social welfare department, Government of Manipur, the National Institute of Social Defense, Government of India and Alankit Assignments Limited, New Delhi to provide grievance redressal mechanism for the senior citizens, information on government schemes and programs for welfare of senior citizens besides providing emotional support so as to help them age happily.

The memorandum was signed in the presence of social welfare minister Henry Okram at a function held at the official residence of the minister, here on Thursday.

Henry told reporters that the toll-free national helpline for senior citizens will be launched for the state under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister N. Biren Singh.

He assured that the toll free helpline number is expected to be launched by February, 2021.

Social welfare director Ng. Uttam Singh singed the tripartite MoU on behalf of the Government of Manipur and Sanjay Bhat, assistant vice-president, Alankit Assingments Limited, New Delhi signed on behalf of the service provider.
