Imphal: In order to prepare and educate the people about the emergency actions to be taken during an earthquake, a state level mock exercise on earthquake was carried out in the office complex of DC, Imphal East, on Monday.
The mock drill was organised by district administration, Imphal East in collaboration with directorate of relief and disaster management.
Activities conducted during the mock excrcise include High Rise Rescue, Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue and Fire Rescue.The mock drill is carried out based on the mock scenario of an earthquake of magnitude 6.7 on Richter scalein Indo-Myanmar border region of Ukhrul district.
The exercise aimed at involving all the stake holders like, Incident Response Team of Imphal East district, police, NDRF-12 Btn,medical team and state fire services, in order to assess response of the district towards a disaster situation.
Some 150 people including district level officers, officials of different offices located in the district, voluntary organisations, teachers of the district witnessed the exercise.
