Govt committed for the welfare of differently able persons: Henry

Imphal: Minister for Social Welfare Henry Okram said that the government will extend every possible help for the welfare and upliftment of the lives of people living with disabilities in the State. This was stated by him during the distribution ceremony of Aids and Appliances to senior citizens and PWDs under various schemes of the government held at Oinam Sawombung, Imphal today.

Speaking as Chief Guest of the function, Henry Okram appreciated the efforts and dedication of the members of Disabled Development Association Manipur (DDAM) for working towards the welfare of the differently abled persons of the State. He sought suggestions and support of the people towards uplifting the lives of the people living with disability. For better accessibility and communication between the government and various stakeholders, the website of the Social Welfare department will be functional and a mobile app would be launched soon, he added. He stated that any grievances and suggestions can be lodged in the website or mobile application.

Minister for Agriculture O. Lukhoi said that disable persons are endowed with remarkable talents, amazing abilities and capabilities. He also cited examples of extraordinary personalities with disabilities leading a sucessful life and contributing to society. Mentioning CMST and other caregiver allowances for persons with disabilities, Minister stressed that the present government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister N. Biren has introduced various welfare programmes for differently abled persons.

MP Rajya Sabha Leishemba Sanajaoba, Deputy Director (Disabilities) Social Welfare L. Dhaneshwor, Advisor DDAM Kiran Yendrembam and others were present during the function. (DIPR)
