Tourism minister inspects “Development of spiritual circuit in Manipur” sites

Imphal (DIPR): Tourism Minister, O. Lukhoi Singh today inspected the project sites under “Development of Spiritual Circuit in Manipur” under Swadesh Darshan Scheme, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India and State Institute of Hotel Management, Nongmaiching, Imphal East.

During the inspection, Minister for Tourism, Lukhoi Singh informed that the State Institute of Hotel Management, Nongmaiching, Imphal East will be completed by September, 2021. The components included under this project are Administrative Building, Hostel, Principal Quarter, Compound Fencing and Gate to be constructed with a total sanctioned amount of Rs. 12 crore, he added.

Minister Lukhoi also visited and inspected the work progress of the various projects taken up for Development of Spiritual Circuit in Manipur at Shree Govindaji Temple, Shree Kaina Temple, Shree Bangsibudon Temple, Khangabok, Shree Gopinath Temple, Ningthoukhong and Shree Bijoy Govindaji Temple, Sagolband.

Addressing the media, Tourism Minister informed that the total cost for the project – Development of Spiritual Circuit in Manipur under Swadesh Darshan Scheme, Ministry of Tourism is Rs. 53.79 Crore. He stated that all the projects are 90 percent completed and will be inaugurated by the end of this year after due consultation with the Chief Minister, Manipur, N. Biren Singh.

The project components of Shree Govindaji Temple are constructions of Multipurpose Hall, reception cum cloak room, store and warehouse, toilet block and hand wash station, internal drains, beautification of ponds/water bodies with floating fountains, compound wall, pathways, western side compound lighting, horticulture work amongst others.

For Shree Kaina Temple, Construction of multipurpose Hall, Care taker Office, Construction of Reception cum Cloak room, Construction of Historical gallery around the temple & Segregation fencing, Paving of Courtyard, Construction of Internal drainage and Pathway, Beautification of walls etc. with painting, Compound lighting i/c façade lighting and CCTV camera system are the components included.

For Shree Bangsibudon Temple, Khangabok, the project components are Construction of Congregation cum Felicitation Hall, Constructions of Administrative Office, Multipurpose hall, Reception cum cloak room, toilet block and hand wash station, underground and overhead reservoir and drinking water kiosk, Paving of courtyard, pathway, construction of compound wall, arcade and drain, Beautification of pond/water body, Beautification of walls etc. with painting, Horticulture works, Construction of parking lot and Compound lighting i/c façade lighting.

At Shree Gopinath Temple, Ningthoukhong, the project components are Construction of multipurpose Hall, hand wash station and drinking water kiosk, providing ramp of congregation hall, ceiling and tile flooring, underground and Construction of overhead reservoir, Reception cum cloak room, Beautification of pond with floating fountains, Paving of courtyard, pathway, construction of compound wall, arcade and drain, Beautification of walls with painting amongst others.

While the project components of Shree Bijoy Govindaji Temple, Sagolband includes constructions of congregation and facilitation hall, administrative office, Reception cum cloak room, toilet block and hand wash, underground and overhead reservoir and drinking water kiosk, compound fencing, drains, pathways, horticultural works, compound lighting, etc.

The project under “Development of Spiritual Circuit in Manipur” is implemented by Tourism Department, Government of Manipur and executed by state PWD as work Agency. While the project for State Institute of Hotel Management, Nongmaiching is implemented by Tourism Department, Government of Manipur and executed by state Manipur Police Housing Corporation Limited (MPHCL) Limited as work Agency.

In line with the vision of CM N. Biren Singh for inclusive development in Manipur, Tourism Minister O. Lukhoi further expressed that there are various ongoing projects in the Hill Districts under Tourism Department, Manipur. The projects are Development of Cave Tourism at Khangkhui Cave, Ukhrul District, Development of Heritage tourism at Yangkhullen, Development of Eco-tourism park at Koide Zho, Senapati, Integrated Tourist Destination at Shirui Hills; under new projects taken up- Development of Eco-tourism complex at Noney District and development of Eco-tourism destination in each Assembly Constituency, Minister asserted. Due to the prevailing global COVID19 pandemic, Tourism Minister also announced that Sangai Festival will be not be held this year.

The Ministerial team includes Managing Director, Manipur Police Housing Corporation (MPHC) Limited,  Christopher Doungel, IPS; Director, Tourism,  W. Ibohal Singh, MCS; Executive Engineer, Building Division No.1, Lairikyengbam Vivek Roy, concern officials and representatives of work Agencies, MPHCL and PWD.
