Minister Henry extends assistance to school transporters

Imphal: Minister for MAHUD, Social Welfare and Co-operation Henry Okram assured that he would extend every possible help to school transporters and the government would consider for a special assistance for them who are facing hardships due to the closure of schools since April 2020. This was stated by him at the distribution of relief materials to school van and bus drivers of Wangkhei A/C held at Radhe Community Hall, Soibam Leikai Wangkhei Khunou, Imphal today.

Speaking as Chief Guest of the function, Henry Okram said that the school van and bus drivers have been adversely affected due to the pandemic and lockdown which began in last week of March, 2020. After discussing with well wishers of the constituency, we decided to extend monetary and others assistance to the school transporters of the Wangkhei A/C, he added.

The Minister mentioned that the Central and State government has made every possible help to each and every citizen under various welfare schemes during the lockdown period.
During the function, a total of 120 school transporters received monetary assistance of Rs. 1000 and 20 kg of rice each.

The All Manipur School Students Transporter’s Association expressed their gratitude to the Minister for extending monetary assistance and relief materials to the school transporters of the constituency. (DIPR)
