Imphal: Heay incessant rainfall caused landslides at Khongnem between Senapati and Maram cutting off the National Highway 2 (Imphal-Dimapur) road.
Around 140 feet stretch of road collapsed to almost 500 feet deep. The landslides has affected around 25 families so far.
Authorities are on site taking stock of the situation. More than 400 trucks are being stranded along the highway and more vehicles continue coming.
BIPL has kept all necessary equipment ready to repair the road. Temporary passage may get ready after 10 days.
In the valley water levels have reached the warning level while rainfall remained incessant. Sources predict of rainfall till Tuesday.
