Imphal: Minister for social welfare and MAHUD Okram Henry on Saturday urged all the stakeholders to support and co-operate in uplifting the social, economic and political status of women in the state.
Henry made the appeal at the felicitation ceremony organised by Manipur State Commission for Women at Kombirei Hall, DC complex Imphal West.
The minister distributed prizes to the winners of the online essay competition. He also inaugurated a national webinar titled “customary laws, alcoholism, and substance abuse: a high voltage of domestic violence in North East India”.
Later in the afternoon, the Minister was accorded a warm welcome at a reception ceremony organized by Imphal Municipal Corporation at Gandhi Memorial Hall, Imphal.
Henry sought the cooperation and coordination of corporators of IMC and officials of MAHUD for the development in municipality areas. He stated that there is a need for streamlining the department to improve efficiency and for better workflow. The problems and grievances faced by the employees of IMC will be addressed soon, he added. He maintained that regular review meetings will be held to monitor the status of any work undertaken by the department.
