Biren inspects Biofloc fish farming

Imphal: Chief minister N. Biren Singh on  Monday inspected the Biofloc fish farming at the residence of fish farmer Longjam Boss Meitei at Wangjoi Thounaojam Leikai, Imphal West.

Biofloc technology is an eco-friendly technique by enhancing water quality in aquaculture by recycling nutrients and maintaining the water quality.

Biren appreciated SLongjam Boss Meitei for being a successful and pioneer fish farmer using Biofloc fish farming technology in the state. He opined that anybody can practice such fish farming system as it requires a minimal area. He also advised the officials of fisheries department to conduct training programme on fish farming using Biofloc technology and create awareness among the fish farmers about the merits of Biofloc fish farming.

The chief minister was accompanied by minister for fisheries S. Rajen Singh, minister for agriculture O. Lukhoi, additional chief secretary M.H. Khan, secretary to CM Ningthoujam Geoffrey, director (fisheries) N. Gojendro and others.
