Imphal: Chief minister N. Biren Singh inaugurated Level – I Trauma Care Centre at RIMS, Imphal through video conferencing at his secretariat on Monday.
Biren said the primary objective of such dedicated trauma centre is to bring down preventable deaths due to road accidents in the state. He appreciated the RIMS authorities and doctors for developing trauma care centre in the state. He mentioned that the centre would have ICU beds, HCU beds, trolley beds, operation theatres, CT-Scan machines, dialysis unit etc.
The state has highly qualified and experienced doctors and healthcare workers as compared to other states, he said.
He highlighted that the government acknowledges the selfless services rendered by doctors, nurses and paramedical staffs during this pandemic.
He expressed his hope that the state would overcome the pandemic with such dedicated services of the healthcare workers. He further emphasized that public awareness campaign would play an important role to combat the disease.
Director of RIMS Prof. A. Shanta said the number of ICU beds have been increased to 30 beds and more than 20 ventilators have been installed with a back up of another 30 ventilators in the trauma care centre. Two operation theatres are available with two mobile X-Ray machines, he added.
He appreciated the chief ninister and government for the support and co-operation in developing such Trauma Centre at RIMS.
The trauma care centre was constructed by Manipur Tribal Development Corporation (MTDC) with an estimated cost of Rs 11.34 crores sanctioned by ministry of health and family welfare. It was constructed under Capacity Building for developing Trauma Care Facilities on National Highways.
