Imphal: Manipur on Thursday witnessed highest single day spike of 141 COVID-19 cases mounting the cumulative number of positive cases to 2,458.
Manipur COVID-19 common control room informed on Wednesday evening that in the past 24 hours, 141 persons (117 males and 24 females) were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases at the VRDLs of RIMS (12), JNIMS (78), DH Thoubal (7), Churachandpur (9), Tamenglong (4), Babina Diagnostic Centre (2), 1st MR (3) and Imphal West RAT (26).
They belong to the districts of Imphal West (30), Churachanpur (51), Thoubal (8), Imphal East (7), Bishnupur (2), Senapati (29), Kakching (7), Kamjong (3) and Tamenglong (4).
The risk factor and travel history of most of the positive cases are under investigation and are being awaited. They are being shifted to the COVID Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the control room said.
It said that in the past 24 hours, 38 persons were discharged from JNIMS (6), CCCs of Meitram (16), Ukhrul (7) and Thoubal (9) after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test. The numbers of active and recovered cases are 805 were 1,653 respectively. The recovery rate stood at 67.24 percent.
A resident of Sapam, Thoubal district was admitted in RIMS on May 22 with multiple health issues such as Chronic Kidney Failure, Long Standing Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Urosepsis and Hypertension. He was found COVID-19 positive on Sunday. He expired at 2 am on Wednesday at RIMS.
