Imphal: Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Manipur centre scientist bagged “ICAR-Swami Sahajanand Saraswati Award -2019 Best scientist Award” for Outstanding Research and Extension in improvement of the crop productivity and livelihood security of the hill farmers.
The Best scientist Award for Outstanding Research and Extension on “Improvement of the crop productivity and livelihood security of the hill farmers through improved technologies of crop production, resource conservation technologies and integrated farming system” was conferred to Dr Meraj Alam Ansari, Scientist, Agronomy, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat Imphal.
The award was conferred on the eve of 92nd foundation day of Indian Council of Agricultural Research through Video Conferencing on Thursday. The Award consists of Rs 1 lakh in cash and a citation.
The day’s award ceremony which was held through video conferencing was attended by Union minister (agriculture and farmers welfare) Narendra Singh Tomar, ministers of state for agriculture and farmers welfare Parshottam Rupala and Kailash Choudhary, and secretary department of Agricultural Research Education and Director General, ICAR, New Delhi, Dr Trilochan Mohapatra.
