Imphal: Churachandpur has got its first COVID Care Centre as deputy commissioner (DC) Pawan Yadav inaugurated a 50-bedded COVID Care Centre at NIELIT, Tuibong on Thursday.
Yadav said asymptomatic positive patients would be treated and isolated from others at the Centre. It will be under the overall supervision and guidance of chief medical officer (CMO), Churachandpur where doctors, who are trained in the field, and paramedic staff will be deployed to look after the patients at the centre.
Around 130 people from the district have tested positive, out of which 58 have been recovered. The district has about 72 active cases. About 4,524 people, who arrived from different places of the country after May 10, have been screened and 6,800 samples have been collected so far.
Lauding the efforts of frontline workers – medical and police team, who worked hard without respite in their fight against the pandemic, he appealed to the people of the district to be on their guards and urged all concerned including those outside quarantine centres, to strictly adhere to protocols like maintaining social/physical distance, wearing mask etc.
The DC also thanked the director of NIELIT for extending cooperation to the people of the district by allowing the institution to be used as COVID Care centre.
Rev. Dr. Ngulzathong, Pastor of CFC invoked a prayer.
Superintendent of Police Amrita Sinha urged all concerned including inmates of quarantine centres to follow the SOPs and extend maximum cooperation to the frontline workers.
The inauguration programme was attended amongst others by CMO Dr. Vumchinpau, assistant commissioner S. Khaikhopau Ngaihte, medical staff and DLOs, a press release from DIO, Churachandpur said.
