5 water supply projects among others inaugurated

Imphal: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh on Wednesday inaugurated five water supply projects, one office building of weight and measures department and a rapid antigen detection testing centre through video conferencing from the chief minister’s secretariat, here.

“With a strong commitment the government could complete various developmental projects in the state. With the co-operation and support of the people, such projects have been inaugurated within a stipulated time period, the chief minister said.

The five water supply projects are Integrated Water Supply Project for Imphal Planning Area Ph-I (15.89 MLD) at Koirengei, Integrated Water Supply Project for Imphal Planning Area Ph-I (0.80 ML) i/c Pumping Station at Sangakpham, Integrated Water Supply Project for Imphal Planning Area Ph-I (Water Treatment Plant (9.08 MLD) at Canchipur, Water Supply Scheme at Heingang Awang Leikai and Water Supply distribution network for Churachandpur.

The Integrated Water Supply Project for Imphal Planning Area Ph-I (15.89 MLD) at Koirengei was constructed at the project cost of Rs. 8.58 crores.  The construction of 15.89 MLD (Million per day) capacity project was started in March 2018 and completed in March.

The Integrated Water Supply Project for Imphal Planning Area Ph-I (0.80 ML) i/c Pumping Station at Sangakpham was constructed at the project cost of Rs. 4.44 crores. The construction of 0.80 ML capacity project was started in March 2018 and completed in March 2019.

The Integrated Water Supply Project for Imphal Planning Area Ph-I (Water Treatment Plant (9.08 MLD) at Canchipur was constructed at the project cost of Rs. 6.10 crores.  The construction of 15.89 MLD (Million per day) capacity project was started in March 2018 and completed in March.

The Water Supply Scheme at Heingang Awang Leikai was constructed at the project cost of Rs. 5.88 crores.  The construction of 0.384 MLD (Million per day) capacity project was started in August 2018 and completed in March.

The Water Supply distribution network for Churachandpur for promoting tourism under NESIDS was constructed at the project cost of Rs. Rs. 2339.36 Lakhs.  The construction of the project was started in February 2019 and completed in June.

The Office Building of Controller of Legal Metrology and R and D Centre, Lamphel was constructed at a project cost of Rs. 2 crores during 2018-19.

The rapid antigen detection testing centre is at Jiribam.

Biren said the New Development Bank has sanctioned Rs 3,000 crore to provide potable water to every household of the state. “All the necessary processes including tenders, issue of work order etc. have been completed and the state government has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to grace the foundation stone laying ceremony which will be held shortly,” he added.

He appealed to civil society organisations, people and others concerned not to create any hindrances in the developmental activities being taken up in the state.

Minister for PHE Losii Dikho said the government is committed to provide potable water to all the household of the state by the year 2022. He mentioned that with the cooperation of the people, the construction of Water supply scheme for Churachandpur was completed eight months before the stipulated time period.
