Police dismantle encroached constructions along Imphal river bank

Imphal: A team of Imphal East police has on Friday dismantled  ‘illegal’ encroachments on the western side of Hatta Golapati along Imphal river bank (from Sanjenthong to Minuthong) which borders the eastern side of Kangla, where people have constructed temporary toilets, garages, worksheds, tea stalls etc. as well as garbage disposal sites.

Ward member and local club leaders assisted the police team in the task.

Around 10 makeshift toilets and 18 sheds were destructed. The loclas were instructed to maintain cleanliness and to stop throwing garbage at the location.

Chief minister N. Biren Singh on his Facebook post said people encroached the river bank adjacent to sacred Kangla as if the state allows people to do anything.

It is very unfortunate; an IRB post will be opened at the area, he added
