Pothashang News Service: Imphal, April 25, 2020: Rural development and Panchayati Raj ( RD and PR ) minister Thongam Biswajit Singh has instructed officials of the RD and PR department to resume implementation of all schemes implemented in rural areas including the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).
Addressing a meeting with Panchayat elected members and officials of the department at his office on Saturday the minister instructed that proper guidelines and protocols as instructed by the government are maintained while resuming work under MGNREGS.
He instructed the Adhyakshas to ensure that adequate masks and hand sanitizers are distributed to the job-card holders to be utilised during implementation of the scheme. He also said that any implementation of the schemes should follow all guidelines and protocols including social distancing and use of face mask.
While strongly instructing department officials to check inappropriate encashment of daily wages, the minister also added that all MGNREGS pass-books should be handed over to the concerned beneficiaries. He also gave a strong instruction against payment of daily wages to any job-cardholder who are absent from work sites.
Biswajit said the department has already opened a toll –free number (1800-345-3872) for anyone who has a complaint or grievances regarding implementation of the scheme in the state. He urged all concerned to use this toll free number to highlight or apprise the officials of any grievances or complaints.
The meeting was attended by Adhyakshas, additional chief secretary MH Khan and other officials of the department.
