Assam Rifles provides assistance to locals

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, April 24, 2020: Mantripukhri Battalion of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under  the aegis of  HQ IGAR  (South)  distributed essential food items and hygiene chemicals to the locals of  Seijang and Yaingangpokpi villages, Imphal East district on Thursday.

The Civic Action team of the battalion, with an aim to mitigate the hardship amid ongoing  lockdown and to reach out to the needy, provided assistance in terms of rations and hygiene chemicals to the locals of Seijang village.  As part of the assistance  rice, dal, sugar, milk, edible oil and hygiene chemicals were distributed to the villagers. The team handed over the pre-packed food packets containing all above mentioned items and separate hygiene chemical packets to the villagers.

In addition, a medical team of the battalion educated locals about various precautionary measures like regular hand washing  maintaining basic hygiene, sanitation, maintaining social distance and other precautions to be taken to prevent spread of Covid-19.

Troops of Assam Rifles are continuously contributing in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic by conduct of such activities and spreading awareness amongst the local population.
