Pothashang News Service: Imphal, March 21, 2020: Troops of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) recovered suspected Brown Sugar at Khudengthabi Check Post in Tengnoupal district on Friday.
During the routine checking of the vehicles, troops of Assam Rifles stopped a silver colour van bearing registration Number MN 06LB 0571 driven by Pukhrambam Munal Singh, 47, resident of Wangjing along with Keishing, 44, of Maokot, Kamjong l, Lalremsiami Singson, 57, of Gamnom Veng, Moreh and Lalboi Singson, 28, of Gamnom Veng, Moreh and Henjahao Manlun, 24, of Canaan Veng. On checking of the vehicle, 610 grams of suspected Brown Sugar worth Rs 1.22 crore in the international market was recovered. The items were being transported to Imphal, Assam Rifles said in a statement released on Saturday.
The apprehendees along with the recovered contraband item has been handed over to Tengnoupal Police station for further investigation, it added.
