Imphal, January 24, 2018 (DIPR): Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh said that the NDA led Government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has changed and transform the vision “Look East Policy” into “Act East Policy” to maintain a strong cohesive relationship with the South East Asian countries. This was stated by him during a flag off ceremony of delegates and Manipur Women’s team for the Women football exhibition match between Myanmar and India cum Business meet with traders of Mandalay and Sagaing division to be held on 27th-30th January 2018. The flag off ceremony was held at Western gate of Kangla, Imphal today.
On the occasion, Chief Minister said that we should showcase our civilization, rich culture and tradition to these South East Asian countries. He further mentioned that the success of the “Act East Policy” depends on our hospitality to the visitors coming to our State.
Addressing the delegates, Chief Minister said that we have to keep in mind that we are not just going to play football but we are on a mission to build a friendly and cordial relationship with our neighbouring countries. Winning or losing is an inevitable part of every game, however the true spirit of sports should be maintained by the sports persons, he added. Chief Minister urged the Minister, MLAs and officials to have a dialogue with the officials of Myanmar Government about the opening of border for feasibility of trade and commerce, visa on arrival facilities etc.
Chief Minister gave his best wishes to the delegates for a productive and successful journey.
The delegates includes Minister for YAS Shri Letpao Haokip, MLAs Shri Paonam Brojen, Shri Y. Surchandra, Convenor of State Level Committee for Operationalisation of Act East Policy Shri R.K. Shivachandra, Chairman and Managing Director of Shija Hospitals and Research Institute Dr. Kh. Palin, players and officials of Women’s football team.
