Imphal, December 23, 2017: Agriculture, veterinary and animal husbandry minister V. Hangkhanlian, today launched the LPG home delivery service and released Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, PMUY at Dorcas Hall, New Lamka, churchandpur.
Hangkhanlian said PMUY is a social welfare scheme for the beneficiaries to get the subsidy directly from the central government. As of now we are living in scientific age, the scheme is aimed at replacing the unclean smoke filled cooking by firewood mostly used in the villages with clean and more efficient LPG, he added.
Ujjwala Yojana is aimed at providing 5 Crore LPG connections in the name of women in BPL household list across the country targeted mainly for widow, said the minister.
He urged the LPG distributors and beneficiaries of Churachandpur to report to the concerned Appellate Authority chaired by the deputy commissioner so that nobody is left out from the central scheme. He assured that he will extend all possible assistance.
According to the reports from Indian Oil Officials there are nine LPG distributors in the district of which there are around 3,80,000 beneficiaries, out of which 3,000 beneficiaries enrolled for PMUY based on Socio Economic Census, 2011.
