Imphal, October 4: “Prime Minister of India should keep his promise as a responsible leader of the nation”, said Dr. S. Manaoton, president of Trinamool, Manipur during a press conference held yesterday at Congress Bhavan in Imphal in connection with observation of Black Day on November 8.
Ten political parties came up together affirming to observe the Black Day in protest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement of November 8 last year for demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes then in circulation.
“People are as if they have no faith to his leadership as all feel announcements are made without properly studying its impacts, such are demonetisation and GST”, said Manaoton. Modi could not convert black money into white by his demonetisation. As a leader of the nation he should keep promises, he added.
“The Modi led NDA government’s demonetisation has brought woes to the citizens and there is fear for financial emergency in the near future. Modi consistently declared to bring in all the black money from outside India. In the recent past, at the parliament list of black money of about 500 corporate outside the nation were produced. But it was kept concealed.” said L. Sotinkumar of CPI and convenor of Black Day observation committee.
The demonetisation has failed to bring back the stash black money. Instead it was converted into the hard currency of foreign countries having ties between Modi and bigcorporate. It has brought woes to the general and poor people and killed about 100 people. Even today, the country is facing severe economic difficulties, added Sotinkumar.
Black money stashed abroad have been already converted into hard currencies of the respective countries and it appears that these big corporate houses have been colluding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi .
The Black Day observation will begin that a mass rally would be flagged off from Congress Bhavan and wind up at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen where a public meeting would be held. INC, RSP, AIFB, BSP, CPI, NCP, AAP, CPI-M, AITC and JD-S are the members in the observation committee.
Sotinkumar and observation committee chairman Govindas Konthoujam appealed to all the people to join the rally.
Govindas claimed that they have completed all preparations for the Black Day which would be observed throughout the country.
