Imphal, 12the November, 2017 (DIPR): The Governor of Manipur, Dr. Najma A Heptullah today interacted with the Assam Rifles (AR) Tri Nation Motorcycle Expedition team members at Raj Bhavan, Imphal.
On the occasion, Dr. Najma appealed to the expedition team members to jot down their experiences from the journey and keep the documents as a book. So that people of the country can get knowledge from it. She also appreciated and encouraged AR for initiating such an expedition in memory of the great freedom fighter Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Sharing his experience till now, expedition team member Col. PKS Gaur said the objective of the Tri-Nation Motorcycle expedition is to foster force to force connection between border guarding forces of the three countries (India, Myanmar and Bangladesh), pay homage to fallen heroes of wars, to spread message of peace & brotherhood and indulging with formal and informal activities including sports activities, social and cultural activities etc. AR Tri-Nation Motorcycle will cover an approximate distance of 2150 kms. In the team, there are 33 members including seven officers and 26 other ranks. The team started its journey on 20th October, 2017 and will complete on 17th November, 2017 at Shillong. It had covered Bangladesh and Myanmar borders and some parts of the north east states for about 1600 Kms and will ride to Nagaland and Assam from here, he added.
As part of the interaction, students of Assam Rifles Public School, Keithelmanbi performed cultural programmes as well.
