Imphal, September 8: Social Welfare Forum, Barak to Phaitol (NH 37), Tousem Sub-Division, Tamenglong District, Manipur has announced to impose indefinite blockade 22 bridges along the National Highway 37 frommidnight of September 11.
The announcement to blockade was made demanding compensation for land aqusition in construction of the bridges.
In a press statement released by the welfare form stated that the construction of 22 bridges between Barak to Phaitol road of NH-37, land acquisition processes had been completed as per the act of 1894 during 2011 and in relevant to this , an estimate for land acquisition and compensatory payment letter was submitted by deputy commissioner, Tamenglong dated on January 10, 2013 and the 765 BRTF received it on January 21, 2013 at 765 BRTF. Accordingly detailed project report for the subject work had been processed for sanction by the competent authority on February 4, same year.
Now that it has been sanctioned and deposited in deputy commissioner, Tamenglong bank account. The welfare forum of the region approached for its disbursement for several times since 2014 in all concerned offices from deputy commissioner, Tamenglong to revenue offices, but on July 19, 2017 the deputy commissioner just wrote for state Cabinet decision .
However, the disbursement order is not being received by the welfare forum till today and thus all the affected land owners will call Bandh on all the said 22 bridges from the midnight of September 11 until and unless all the bridges compensation is disbursed to the affected villagers added the statement.
The welfare forum of the region appeal to all the public concerned to cooperate during the bandh in order to avoid misunderstandings. The welfare forum will not be responsible for any untoward incident during the bandh. Medical,electricity, water supply and religious matters will not be affected by the bandh, said the statement.
