Consumer Affairs of Food and Public Distribution (CAF & PD) minister, Karam Shyam has inspected the construction works of godown at Bishnupur Chingning and Sawombung.
Karam Shyam said, the construction work of godowns taken up by Manipur development society (MDS) is very unfortunate for the people of the state. The construction sites will be inspected and if the work didn’t meet the amount sanction by the government. Suitable action will be taken up by the government to those responsible persons of misuse of funds, added Shyam
He said the government will decide to hand over the construction works to other agencies as MDS will not be able to complete the whole project. The government will not remain silent to the incomplete works of the godowns but will try to complete as soon as possible by handing over the works to another agencies, he added
The government also will hand over the construction works of godown in Churachandpur and Thoubal Districts to another agency, said the minister.
However he was happy at the progress of the construction work taken up by Public Works Department (PWD).
He also assured rewards to the constructors if they complete the works at the earliest and maintain good quality.
The government have plan for 15 godowns in different districts of the state.
The construction work of 6 godowns of CAF and PD department have already started in Thoubal, Churachandpur, Chandel, Tamenglong, Bishnupur and Imphal East. But constructions at Chandel and Tamenglong have been delayed due to land dispute.
The minister today inspected the constructions of five thousands metric ton godown taken up under the Food Co-operation of India (FCI) in Bishnupur Chinging and ten thousand metric ton in Sawombung.
