Dr. G. Tonsana Sharma who contested on MNDF’s ticket at Heingang assembly constituency has plead the Election Commission of India and chief electoral officer, Manipur to re-poll at the constituency saying there were evidences of irregularities and malpractices during the polling on March 4.
Talking to the reporters at here at Manipur Press Club Tonsana Sharma said, not a single polling agent was appointed to represent him in any of the 45 polling stations in the assembly constituency.
Tonsana also said there were full of irregularities, malpractices, and proxy voting during the poll hours. Saying that none was appointed for him as polling agent, the candidate appealed election authority to take up necessary steps to re-poll the Heingang constituency in the interest of the electors’ justice.
Persons who were not known to him have posted themselves as the polling agent for him in eleven polling stations which was a gross violation of the mandate of the election related laws and rules; such practice might have also been practiced in almost all the polling stations of the constituency, added Tonsana.
