Security measures have been beefed up ahead of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Imphal which is boycotted by CorCom (Coordinating Committee of six insurgent groups).
Narendra Modi is visiting Imphal tomorrow to take part BJP’s election campaign rally at Langjing Achouba ground in Imphal West.
The CorCom had announced to impose public curfew from 6:00 am tomorrow which would remain effective until the Prime Minister leaves the state.
As a part of the security measures taken police today conducted a cordon and search operation and house to house verification at the surrounding areas of Tubi Leima ground where the chopper taking the Prime Minister would land, and at Toubungkhok area.
Further sanitisation of the Tubi Leima ground has been done using 2 sniffer dogs of Manipur Police.
A Chinese hand grenade was today recovered by the police at the residential gate of BJP candidate Soibam Subhashchandra at Ningombam Mayai Leikai.
Another bomb found at the residential gate of one O. Sunil in Thoubal district.
On February 28 Rahul Gandhi is also visiting Imphal to head Congress election rally at Hapta Kanjeibung.
President of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee yesterday appealed the BJP to reveal the Framework Agreement during the Prime Minister’s visit tomorrow. “If BJP is sincere enough the framework agreement should be revealed instead of bluffing the people by saying that the agreement does not disturb the territorial integrity of Manipur”, added Haokip.
People from various section of the society have been demanding to disclose what is in the framework agreement signed between the NSCN-IM and the BJP government at the centre. People are in worry over the framework would disintegrate Manipur as the goal of the Naga outfit is to make a greater Nagalim. Students has been gearing up agitations demanding to reveal the agreement instead of keeping it secret and ask what is the harm in revealing the points of agreement in the framework.
