Imphal: Childs rights group has drawn the interest of political parties to include child issues on their best interest in the election Manifestoes for the forthcoming 11th Manipur Legislative Election.
Talking to the reporters at Manipur Press Club here, the core committee member of Manipur Alliance for Child Rights Keisam Pradeep said the committee has begun to submit a 17 points charter of demand to the National and Regional political parties on the best interest of today’s children and their future to include the child issues in Election Manifestoes of the political parties. The committee will start poster campaign, street plays and awareness campaigns in various parts of Manipur, said Pradeep.
Among the 17 points charter included Human rights issue, impact of Band and Blockade, and the conflict situation to the students, sexual abuse to children and police atrocities towards minor students in big issues of the state.
The charter also included to withdraw Armed Forces (special powers act) stating that among the 1528 killed in the fake encounter case raised in the Supreme Court includes 98 children.
Another important issue listed for attention to the political parties was that there has been no state child protection policy.
