Imphal, November 15: Celebrating the Children’s day the Khuga Battalion of Indian Army yesterday organised a painting competition at Rayburn High School on occasion of birthday of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru.
A total of 580 students participated in the competition. The event was organised with an aim to reach out to the children residing in the remote and far-flung areas and increase awareness and nurture sense of bonding with the nation & its cultural heritage. The celebrations commenced with an educative lectures about the Children’s Day and its significance on nation by unit RMO.
The painting completion commenced thereafter, wherein, crayons and drawing sheets were presented to the children. The theme based competition targeted children of different age groups so as to tickle their fertile and creative minds as per their capability. The event terminated with the prize distribution ceremony for the first three winners selected in each category to imbibe a sense of pride & competition amongst them. The refreshments were catered for the children and school staff at the end.
Similar Competition was also organised in Khuga and at the border villages of Theigothang, Zoukhonou & Hingtam Khounou to spread awareness & learning through art.
The Children of Thinghat Subdivision were not only provided with an opportunity to express themselves regarding various social issues through art but also given a platform to interact with Indian Army and seek correct guidance during their formative years.
In another move, a total of 64 students from various districts of Manipur have been selected in Indian army after the Khuga battalion gave the pre physical training to the students for Army recruitment rally and preparations to students for written exam by hiring 2 civil teachers.
The students were provided free messing, free accommodation and books during the recruitment and pre physical training process.
At present the Indian Army has opened online registration for Indian army officer. Those students who have scored 70% and above in physics, chemistry and mathematics in 12th class can approach in khuga battalion for free online registration. Last date for online registration is November 29, 2017, said an army statement.
