Imphal, November 6: Two Kangleipak Students’ Association, KSA volunteers were physically assaulted yesterday after five KSA volunteers were allegedly taken into custody of Manipur Students’ Federation, MSF on Saturday night.
While KSA demandes a clarification from MSF at the earliest regarding the incident the MSF turns up with allegation of theft against the KSA.
Vice president Ningthoujam Chetan, talking to reporters at its office in Imphal said, some people led by MSF vice president Lucky Konsam and general secretary Wanglemba forcibly took away five KSA volunteers on Saturday night.
The MSF volunteers were armed with lethal weapons, hockey and base ball sticks and iron rods, and were boozed barged into KSA office and vandalised the office room, Lucky alleged.
The five KSA volunteers who were forcibly taken were its general secretary Sukham Bidyananda, Khullakpam Sanjoy, Thiyam Johnson, Moirangthem Chingkhei and Potsangbam Ranjan. They were freed near GM Hall at around 1.30 am yesterday, alleged Lucky.
Again, MSF volunteers led by Lucky and Wanglemba physically assaulted two KSA volunteers at around 11 am yesterday during a campaign at Tangkham about KSA’s general body meeting.
Hawaibam Chingkheinganba and Oinam James sustained injuries in the attack and they were taken to Raj Medicity. One Thingbaijam Rahul too sustained some injuries, said KSA.
KSA yesterday lodged complaints to the police regarding the two incidents.
On the other MSF has asked KSA to come out with a clarification by 1 pm today and pay back stolen cash and articles. MSF alleged that it office and important documents kept inside it were vandalised and looted Rs three lakh by some people at around Saturday midnight.
A press release issued by MSF vice-president O Premsagar said that the looted was donated by public. It accused KSA of taking side with a particular student group regarding a conflict among students over the recent college student unions election rather than reprimanding the students.
