Imphal, October 28, 2017 (DIPR): Horticulture and Soil Conservation Minister Thounaojam Shyamkumar today released varieties of winter vegetable seeds to be distributed to the farmers of 12 districts of the State, which targets 500 hectares of agricultural land.
Seeds of varieties of Rabi crops such as cabbage, tomato, onion, watermelon, garden pea among others were released under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) at the function organised by the Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation at the Farmers Training Hall, Khonghampat.
Speaking as the Chief Guest of the function, Thounaojam Shyamkumar appealed to the department and the farmers to work together for a successful vegetable farming and to increase income. He suggested the farmers to save some seeds after crop cultivation so that the seeds can be cultivated next year. He said that the department targets at the timely distribution of seeds.
The function was also attended by the officials of Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation.
