MUSEUM IS THE MIRROR OF CULTURE AND CIVILISATION: JAYANTAKUMAR

Imphal, September 23, 2017 (DIPR): Art & Culture Minister Shri L. Jayantakumar Singh said that Museum is the mirror of our culture. It is also an important source of history and civilisation. Speaking at the 48th Foundation Day Celebration of the Manipur State Museum, Minister stated that museum plays an educative role in the society besides being a Research Centre.

In his speech as Chief Guest, Shri Jayantakumar highlighted that the old building of Manipur State Museum needs to be renovated. For this purpose, necessary fund will be sanctioned in consultation with the Chief Minister, he added. He also assured for increasing the number of required staffs of the museum and to provide adequate security.

After releasing the Booklet of Manipur State Museum and Post Card, Minister also unveiled the statue of Maharaj Gambhir Singh and his army. Later, he opened the Temporary Exhibition of Masterpieces of Manipur State Museum Collection.

The 48th Foundation Day was attended by the Commissioner, Art & Culture, Shri M. Lakshmikumar Singh (IAS), MLA, Mayang Imphal A/C, Shri K. Robindro Singh, MLA Sekmai A/C Shri H. Dingo Singh, Art & Culture Director Dr. K. Sushila Devi as President and Guests of Honour respectively. Officers and staffs of Manipur State Museum and Art & Culture Department also attended the function.
