Imphal, September 14: The Co-ordinating Body of Trade Unions (CBTU), Manipur today organised a protest meeting at Manipur Press Club hall here.
It demanded to stop recruitment on contract basis; to pay a salary of Rs. 18, 000 per months at the minimum and a pension of Rs. 4, 000 each to the labourers in the state; and abolish corruption.
It also demanded to implement Lok Ayukta which has the power to punish even the chief minister for corruption charges, and to make PDS supply items reach to all the people and take up measures to control price rise in the commodity market by banning speculative trade in the state.
It also demanded creation of reliable employment opportunities and punish those who go against the labour laws.
The state co-ordinating trade union to abolish inequality among the government employees while demanding to give equal wages to the village defense force and the home guard personnel.
It also demanded to install highway protection force to defend from extortion and frequent disturbances like blockades. It also demanded to save wet lands and arable lands.
