Imphal, September 8: This season the state’s own fashion enthusiast, Robert Naorem stikes back throwing a mega show “Ningtham Charei—keeping the tradition alive” at Imphal Hotel lawn, tommorrow.
Chief minister Nongthombam Biren Singh has been invited to launch the eletricfying event, projected to promote the cultural and traditional wears of Manipur through the so called fashion show.
There will be several rounds of ramp including a vibrant kids wera show collection of Caroline Laishram, an emerging designer of the state.
“It is nothing commercial, this is all about tradition and I would rather call in a different way… as…when we say ‘fashion show’ people takes in another way. To me it is not about glamour or money, it is all about to promote the talented people out here and the weaves of the state, feeling ‘I am a Manipuri”, said Robert Naorem on the parade eve.
“We are always on the back side. We want to bring it in the upfront. Its very hard to get sponsorers in Manipur. I am spending my own money for the purpose, added the fashion enthusiast.” “I wanted to do something for where I am” said Robert boldly.
Sheetal Sharma, choreographer, Ashok Manney, designer, both from Bangalore are here for the show. Ashok will use designs of our own fabric among his collections, said Robert.
Six models from Mumbai and six from Manipur will walk the ramp among senior models from oustide the state who are arriving tommorrow. Former Miss India Universe will support Ashok, and Bruna Abdulla, Bollywood actress will also be on the limelight of the show, added Robert.
