About a thousand students today exercised their art along the flex that stretches one and a half kilometre along the Kangla Park footpath in an art competition organised in the theme “Free, Fair & Peaceful Election and Ethical Voting”.
The competition titled—‘The Longest (1.5 Kilometer) Art Competition’ was organised by the office of the chief election officer, Manipur, Editor’s Guild and NEO GENE: contemporary artists of Manipur, ahead of the forthcoming state assembly election that was fixed to be conducted on March 4 and 8.
“We want to capture the imagination and attention of wider audience of Manipur to the importance of ethical voting and give the message to experience a free and fair election”, said Hrishikesh Modak, joint CEO, Manipur.
The competition carries 82 prizes worth Rs. 1 Lakh.
“I don’t mind if I don’t get a prize, but I want to paint to give the message of a very fair election with no gun threats and without selling their rights on secret ballot”, said a participant.
