Manipur Homeguards today staged sit-in- at the complex of Manipur Homeguard Headquarter, Lamphel, demanding the increment of their duty allowance as per the directives given by Supreme Court.
Md.Tombi, company commander said, the association has been demanding to increase the duty allowance of homeguard personnel by respecting the directives given by Supreme Court on March 11, 2015.
It is very unfortunate that the state government has so far not implemented the order, added Tombi.
He said that their monthly salary of Rs. 5000 is not sufficient to run their families which creates innumerable problems.
They are also performing their duties not less than that of other police personnel of the state, he added.
Despite many agitation and protest rally, no concern department, or state government have come up with any solution, so far, said Tombi.
If our demands are not fulfilled at the earliest, different form of agitation in democratic way will be stage and I himself will commit suicide, cautioned Tombi.
