Commander of Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) Lamphel faction, Soraisam Modhuchandra Singh was surrendered to the chief minister Nongthombam Biren Singh in a homecoming ceremony held at the CMs secretariat, today.
Modhuchandra also known as S.M. Meitei aged 45 years, son of S. Dinamani Singh of Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai. He was working as Self Style Commander of KCP Lamphel faction.
Modhuchandra surrndered along with two 9mm pistols with magazines and 9 live rounds.
The government would provide skill development programmes to the surrendered militants that would enable them to find sustainable means of livelihood , said Biren Singh.
These skill development programmes would be starting from June 30 and would be provided free of cost to those surrendered cadres. Those who have surrendered four years back would be allowed to stay at their respective homes, added the chief minister.
He praised the surrendered cadre for joining the mainstream after having faith in the new government.
Biren Singh lauded the bold step taken by the militant to shun violence and to join the path of peace and prosperity which would help progress and development in the State.
Strongly condemning the recent killings at Ukhrul district, Biren Singh said an FIR has been lodged and the entire area has already cordoned off by the combined team of State Police and Assam Rifles. Befitting punishments would be given to those perpetrators who are associated with such act of terrorism, he added.
The homecoming ceremony was attended by DGP Manipur, Shri L.M. Khaute, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Dr. J. Suresh Babu and other top ranking police officers.
