Imphal: Central leaders has given assurance to the BJP MLAs that a new popular government will be formed after November 15, said BJP MLA Thounaojam Shyamkumar on Thursday.
Shyamkumar was speaking to reporters on the sideline of a programme at Andro, Imphal East organised by Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Andro, Imphal East.
During the recent meeting with the central leaders, he said,“We were given assurance that a new popular government will be coming after November 15. Each of us wanted to become the leader and ministers. We are ready to support party’s decision on choosing a leader among us.” “President’s Rule with state under suspended animation cannot be further extended after the completion of the ongoing 6 months.”
On October 8, BJP MLAs including former chief minister N. Biren Singh, Speaker Th. Satyabrata Singh except for 7 Kuki-Zo BJP MLAs hold a joint meeting at the national capital to press the central leaders for formation of a new popular government and other issues including rehabilitation of displaced persons and free movement along all national highways.
On February 13, after N. Biren Singh tendered his resignation as chief minister, President Rule was imposed.
After the recent meting of BJP MLAs, the legislators met BJP North East in-charge, Sambit Patra and BJP general secretary (organisation) BL Santosh in two separate occasions.
