Imphal: The Composite Regional Centre (CRC) for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Imphal, on Friday distributed Head Mouse, an assistive device to two beneficiaries who are unable to move both their upper and lower limbs.
The devices were handed over by Khoibi Singh, director, CRC Imphal, to L. Kaikho, a locomotive-disabled person from Senapati, and Laishram Gyanba, a locomotive-disabled person from Thanga.
The devices were supplied by ALIMCO under a pilot project benefiting two recipients.
The Head Mouse is a specialized assistive device designed for individuals who cannot use their hands or legs. Mounted on the user’s head, it functions as a computer mouse, enabling users, particularly those with quadriplegia. With this equipment, locomotive-disabled persons can operate laptops, desktops, or mobile phones through head movements.
Anuj Jain, who himself is a quadriplegic and uses the device, shared that the Head Mouse costs Rs 30,000 in the market. However, eligible and needy persons with disabilities can avail it free of cost by submitting the required documents — UDID Card, Aadhaar Card, and Income Certificate to the Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Lamphelpat, Imphal.
