Imphal: In observance of ‘Separation Day’, Committee on Tribal Integrity CoTU, a Kuki-Zo civil body, has imposed imposed a 12 hours total shutdown along the NH-2 (Imphal Dimapur) on the October 3 and pressed for ‘separate administration’ for Kuki-Zo.
The shutdown will be effective from 6 am to 6 pm on Friday, CoTU announced on Wednesday.
The statement issued by the committee said CoTU has been leading for a political aspiration on the demand of ‘Separation administration’ and have been observing 3rd of every month as “Separation Day” since May 3 violence occurred in Manipur.
“The Committee would be observing this coming 3rd October 2025 as Seperation Day with full fervor to remind the Government of India that we the Kuki-Zo community have been physical and demographically separated from the majoritarian Meitei community,” said the statement.
All business establishments including academic institutions would remain closed as usual with the exception of Medical emergencies and Funeral Procession which will remain out of the purview of the shutdown, it added.
