Imphal: Security forces on Friday arrested two cadres of People Liberation Army (PLA) in connection with the September 19 ambush on 33 Assam Rifles at Nambol Sabal Leikai, Bishnupur district, Manipur, in which two personnel were killed and injured five others.
They were identified as Thongram Sadananda Singh alias Ngachik alias Purakpa, 18, of Wangbal Heiruthong Leikai, Thoubal district; and S/S Lt Corpl Chongtham Mahesh alias Momo alias Amo Singh, 51, of Keishampat Leimajam Leikai, Imphal West district.
Mahesh is a very senior cadre of the banned outfit PLA, associated with the organization since 1990. He arrested from Guwahati, Assam with assistance from Crime Branch Police Station, Guwahati, Assam, said Manipur Police.
One active cadre of PLA was arrested on Wednesday as ‘prime accused’ in connection with the Nambol ambush.
