Imphal: Eastern Area Border Haat Demand Committee (Pilong, Kamjong district) has demanded to set up a border haat at Pilong, near the Indo-Myanmar border.
Representatives of the committee met Manipur governor and submitted a memorandum seeking him for setting up of the border haat.
The committee highlighted the strategic and economic importance of Pilong, situated about 40 km from Kamjong district headquarters and close to the Myanmar border.
They pointed out that the location has long served as a traditional trading area for local communities and holds significant potential for enhancing cross-border trade and improving livelihoods in the region.
The governor informed them that their concerns raised in the memorandum would be taken up with the appropriate authorities for further consideration.
