Imphal: Two Assam Rifles personnel were killed and five others were injured in an ambush by unknown armed people on Friday evening at Nambol of Bishnupur district in Manipur.
The incident occurred after a week Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Manipur and called for peace.
Manipur Police team rushed at the spot. Five of the injured persons were rushed to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal.
The ambush occurred at around 5:30 pm at Nambol Sabal Leikai.
So far no one has claimed responsible of the attack.
Security forces have been conducted counter insurgency operations in the state resulting to arrest of militants and recovery of arms almost every day since the Manipur violence erupted in May 2023.
