Imphal: The People’s Alliance for Peace and Progress, Manipur (PAPPM) warmly welcomes e Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, on his visit to Manipur.
“We hold deep faith in his leadership and vision for a peaceful, united, and prosperous India,” said the people’s alliance.
On this occasion, PAPPM said, it respectfully reminds the Prime Minister of the various issues that have been raised in the earlier memoranda, which remain critical for restoring peace and harmony in Manipur.
The memoranda included rackdown on Illegal Immigration – Establishment of a transparent and effective mechanism to identify and address the problem, which threatens the demographic balance and long-term stability of Manipur.
It included eradication of Poppy Cultivation and Drug Trafficking – Strict enforcement measures and deterrent punishments against those engaged in drug-linked activities that fund militancy and undermine youth and society; protection of Reserved and Protected Forests – Urgent action against illegal encroachments that damage the environment and endanger lives through landslides, floods, and deforestation; and countering Divisive Political Agendas – Isolating disruptive political elements that fuel ethnic polarization, distort history, and threaten the territorial integrity of Manipur and the unity of the nation.
PAPPM said it firmly believes that addressing these issues is not only vital for peaceful coexistence among all communities in Manipur, but also for safeguarding India’s national security and sovereignty.
“We, therefore, urge the Hon’ble Prime Minister to take decisive action on these pressing matters during his visit and strengthen the hands of the Manipur State Government in its efforts to eradicate drugs, protect the environment, and preserve the cultural and historical heritage of Manipur.”
“The people of Manipur look forward with hope that under the Prime Minister’s guidance, the state of Manipur will move towards lasting peace, harmony, and progress.”
