Too Late, Too Irrelevant; Not Welcome Anymore: KLA-L on Modi’s expected visit to Manipur

Imphal: Kuki Liberation Army – Lekholun (KNA-L) on Saturday said, “PM Modi is not welcome. His silence during our suffering will not be forgotten!”

The belated arrival of PM Narendra Modi on September 13, a day that commemorates the tragic loss of over 1,000 innocent Kuki lives, including infants, at the hands of the NSCN-IM, is met with utmost indignation and disappointment. Justice remains elusive for the Kukis to this day. The pain of the 1993 NSCN-IM atrocities still lingers, with justice remaining elusive, the militant group said in a press release.

“Worse still, amidst the ongoing state-sponsored ethnic violence against the Kuki-Zo people, when our people were brutally killed, subjected to unimaginable suffering, displaced, and traumatized, PM Modi chose to remain silent. His belated presence reeks of opportunism. The timing is an insult to those who lost loved ones and livelihoods. PM Modi’s absence during our darkest hour has rendered his presence meaningless.”

“Now, with the situation stabilized and the dust beginning to settle, PM Modi has seen fit to arrive on our soil. This attempt to capitalize on our suffering is viewed as insensitive and utterly unacceptable. His presence is nothing but a hollow gesture, devoid of any genuine concem for the Kuki-Zo people. We demand accountability and justice, not token appearances,” the militant group said.
