Imphal: Manipur BJP MLA Y. Khemchand Singh welcomed the reopening of the Imphal-Dimapur Road (NH-2), describing it as a milestone in restoring normalcy.
He appealed to all communities to set aside differences and work together for a progressive and inclusive Manipur.
The Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) has clarified that the Imphal–Dimapur NH-2 has never been closed or blocked.
The NH-2 has consistently remained open for commuters and for the transportation of essential goods. Therefore, the question of “reopening” does not arise, it said.
Raj Nongmaithem, a highway transport driver who regularly plies along NH-2 before unrest, expressed fear despite the official reopening. He said, “We are still scared to drive on the highway. Anything can happen any time — ambush, attack, or arson. Unless there is real security on the ground, reopening the road means little for drivers like us.”
