Security forces in Manipur continue operations, huge cache of weapons recovered

Imphal: Security forces continued search operations in different parts of crisis ridden which led to recovery of large number of weapons on Thursday.

Recoveries were made in Imphal East, Jiribam and Bishnupur districts.

Manipur Police recovered several arms and ammunition from the foothill of Uran-Chiru village and its surrounding area under Sagolmang police station, Imphal East district which were three 5.56 x 45 mm INSAS rifle with three magazines, one 7.62 x 39 mm AK -56 rifle with two magazines, two 7.62 x 39 Ghatak AK 47- rifle with two magazines, one 7.62 x 51 mm SLR rifle with magazine, one 9 mm MP5 rifle with two magazines and 232 live ammunition of different calibers.

On this day security forces recovered arms and ammunition in between Jairolpokpi village and Mongbung Meitei village under Jiribam police station, Jiribam district, which were five country made muzzle loading SBBL, 33 AK live ammunition, 30 vials containing gun powder, one Baofeng Walkie talkie, 100 lead pieces and six gun powder filling iron rod.

The security forces also made another recovery from Phubala Patton Mamang area under Moirang police station, Bishnupur district.

The recovered items were one SLR with magazine, one .303 Rifle with magazine, one SBBL, two DBBL and one high explosive mine bomb.

Manipur Police appealed to the general public to return the looted arms and ammunitions.
