Imphal: Representatives of various organisations of internally displaced persons (IDPs) called on Manipur governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and apprised him of the challenges and grievances faced by them, on Thursday.
The delegation highlighted key concerns relating to road accessibility, resettlement in their respective homes, education, healthcare, and the provision of housing.
The governor assured them that these issues have already been taken up with the concerned authorities and that sustained efforts are being made to address them at the earliest.
The meeting was also attended by the commissioner (Home) and the secretary to the governor.
The Meitei-Kuki conflict the erupted on May 3, 2023 had displaced around 62, 000 persons.
A large number of IDPs have been at the relief camps.
The state government (PR) had assured to resettle these IDPs by December 2025, either in their original homes or in government-constructed temporary housing, with the goal of closing all relief camps by the end of the year.
