Imphal: Mona Laboratory celebrated its 38th anniversary on Wednesday by organising a one-day free health camp at its premises at Kombirei Keithel, Imphal, drawing positive response from the community.
Around 100 people participated in the camp, which offered consultations across multiple specialties including skin, medicine, dental and psychiatric services. Dental check-ups were conducted by doctors from MB Oral Clinique, while other specialists provided general medical advice. Free medicines were also distributed to all attendees.
Participants welcomed the initiative, calling it timely and beneficial. “I had been putting off a dental check-up due to financial constraints. This camp gave me the opportunity to consult a doctor without any cost,” said Thoiba, a 42-year-old participant from Khurai.
Another volunteer, Ranjita Devi, who came for a skin consultation, said, “I often face skin problems but rarely get time to visit a specialist. The doctors here were very helpful and explained my condition clearly. Such camps should be held more often.”
Some participants also highlighted the importance of psychiatric services being included in the camp. “Mental health is often neglected. I am glad that consultations were available here it makes people feel that it is okay to seek help,” said a young volunteer who attended the session.
Officials of Mona Laboratory said the anniversary programme was part of their ongoing commitment to community health.
They also announced that the laboratory would continue to facilitate OPDs in skin, medicine, dental, and psychiatric consultations. “We want to make healthcare more accessible, and this camp is a small step towards that,” one of the officials said.
The event concluded with doctors and organisers thanking the volunteers and local residents for making the camp a success.
