ADG BSF reviews Manipur security

Imphal: Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal, additional director general (ADG) of the Border Security Force (BSF) Eastern Command, has completed a two-day security review visit to the state, inspecting ground deployments and assessing the preparedness of personnel amid the prolonged crisis.

During his visit, the ADG toured BSF locations across Thoubal, Bishnupur, and Churachandpur districts. At the Subsidiary Training Centre (STC) in Churachandpur, he addressed a Sainik Sammelan, interacting directly with officers and jawans.

“Each one of you has a critical role to play in stabilising the law and order situation in Manipur,” Aggarwal told the troops. “Your dedication and professionalism are essential during this time of unrest.”

“I expect each of you to perform your assigned responsibilities with utmost sincerity and resolve. The peace and security of the people depend on our collective efforts.”

The ADG reviewed current deployments, discussed operational challenges, and assessed troop morale on the ground. He also acknowledged the commitment of BSF units in maintaining order under difficult circumstances. The visit concluded with his return to Kolkata on August 3.

Manipur has been on boil since May 3, 2023. Around 250 people have lost their lives and more than 60,000 have been displaced. Amid worsening tensions and deepening political rifts within the ruling BJP, the state has been under President’s Rule since February 13, 2025, with the Assembly placed under suspended animation.
